Going on a family holiday with the kids in tow? Did you know that your dependents are covered for free under your policy? Yippee! That means you pay no extra, no matter how far, or how long you’re going on your well-deserved break.

Each insurer in Australia varies their definition of a “dependant” but luckily for you we’ve gone ahead and researched all the differences for you.

Be sure to include any dependents in your quote and on your Certificate of Insurance so they are covered - just because they may be included at no extra cost does not mean that their details don't need to be included.

Zurich Australia Insurance Limited 21 Your children or grandchildren on the certificate of insurance travelling on the journey with you provided they are not in full-time employment and are under 21 years of age.
Chubb Insurance Australia Limited 18 or 21 Any unmarried children up to and including 18 years of age and/or your dependent children aged over 18 years of age and up to and including 21 years of age, whilst they are full-time students at an accredited institution of higher learning and primarily dependent upon you for maintenance and support.

Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd 21 Your children not in full-time employment who are under the age of 21 and travelling together with you for the entire journey.
Southern Cross Benefits Limited 21 Your unmarried children, stepchildren, foster children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who are aged under 21 years at the start date of the insurance and are not in full-time employment, and they are primarily financially dependent on the adult(s) named on the Certificate of insurance.

Pacific International Insurance 21 Your children or grandchildren not in full-time employment who are under the age of 21 at the date of policy issue, travelling with you on the majority of the trip, and listed as covered on your Certificate of Insurance.
Pacific International Insurance 25 Children mean - your children, stepchildren, grandchildren, foster children, and children for whom you are the legal guardian, who are travelling with you on the same itinerary for the entire duration of your trip and at the time the Certificate of Insurance is issued are: under 25 years of age, and working less than 30 hours per week. Consider the PDS and TMD from TIS and if the policy is right for you.
