Allianz Travel Insurance Review

I had to cancel my trip at the last minute due to work related issues. However, this was not covered by the policy and my claim was subsequently rejected. I feel like I wasted money on both the travel and accomodation expenses and also on the insurance policy which was why I purchased it in the first place. I will never buy another policy with them again.

My personal experience with Allianz has been not all that good. I made a claim for my lost baggage, and although it took some time to process the claim, it was eventually passed. However, I got back less than 50% of my total loss.

I was admitted to an emergency room a couple of days prior to my trip but Allianz would not honour the policy. My claim was just $200 for my flight. I will not buy from them again.

I make sure to insure myself before going abroad for a trip. I tried Allianz this time when going on a leisure trip to India. Unfortunately, the weather change did not suit me, and I suffered from flu. Allianz paid all the medical expenses and also made timely calls to ensure that I am well. Allianz, I am not going to any other travel insurance company ever.

Allianz insurance is a fantastic insurance company to deal with and I will definitely go with them again. I dropped my $2000 video camera while on my trip and bought a replacement there, put a claim when I returned and received the full payment in 2 weeks.

I have been insuring myself with Allianz for past 3 years whenever I went abroad. Thankfully all my trips were nice and there was no instance to make a claim. However, on my recent trip to London, I lost my baggage and made a claim. Despite of furnishing with all the required documents, I was not paid for the loss. It was a really bitter experience.

We had to make a claim for a huge medical fee while in UK but got rejected because my wife had an operation 3 years earlier on the same area. This is despite the fact that the 2 medical events were not related and this was certified by the surgeon in UK. Allianz chose not to honour the claim. I might as well travel without a travel insurance policy, at least it could have contributed to some of the medical bill we had to fork out.

I am very disappointed with Allianz. The paperwork required for my claim for only $150 medical expenses while travelling in Vietnam and to follow up on my case was just not worth the time and effort spent. I had to collect all the paperwork, filled up forms and had my GP to certify also cost time and money. It's been over a month since I submitted the form and it is still not approved. I have been emailing weekly since I submitted my claim with all the required documentation. It has been a frustrating process.

Allianz do not practice what they preach. I was told by them that I would be given a cooling period of 30 days, in case I want to cancel my policy. However, the scenario was different all together. I was not allowed to cancel my policy after 20 days post to the date I purchased the policy, they told me it was 14 days. I had no option but to stick with them because it was only verbal and I did not have proof. Who knows what they have been telling other people. Read the PDS yourself or just do not opt for Allianz.

I purchased the Allianz Comprehensive travel insurance on a vacation to Europe with my family. During the trip, I had severe tooth ache and hence had to stay back to get it treated. Allianz covered for the medical cost and paid for the cost of my pre-booked tour because I had to get treatment. I recommend Allianz to all people travelling abroad.

Any health related problems are troubling when you are travelling. In my case, luckily Allianz travel insurance covered all the expenses that I incurred during my emergency hospitalisation. The policy also covered my emergency dental expenses.

While travelling in Europe, my camera was stolen and I had to buy a new one for the trip. I submitted a claim once I got back to Australia and they paid me for my camera less the excess and some depreciation. I was happy as I wasn't expecting to get anything back from them.
