Allianz Travel Insurance Review

The claim process with Allianz is terrible, please do not purchase any travel insurance policies if you think you might actually need to claim something. While the level of customer service itself was satisfactory, even if you have a doctor's recommendation saying you should make changes to your travel arrangements, they will deny it to save some money. If you plan to travel with insurance, do not choose Allianz.

My claims was rejected and the would find any loophole to not pay out, I don't even think they were through.

Allianz offered good value travel insurance compared to other policies on the market, and it was very easy to buy online. I cannot vouch for the claims process as we (fortunately)did not need to use it. Being in my 70s, a lot of insurers had dramatic increases in price but Allianz was easy and relatively cheap.

The value for money for multiple trips is excellent. I contacted Sally regarding a question on the policy and she was just great and there were no delays in the phone being answered as well.

I pay for travel insurance and an accident made me miss my flight....now after 5 months I am still waiting....they are fighting me tooth and nail not to pay out. If you phone them you are waiting for hours to even talk to someone. Then you are passed around to everyone and then nobody knows what's going on. Thanks to them I will never fly Virgin again.

I've had very steep quotes from most other providers, except RACV. Very friendly staff and they fix any problems with your account if they occur. I also have multiple insurance coverage with them, which brings the price down.

I went on a trip to New Zealand and travelled around in a camper van but damaged the water door by mistake on the travels. Allianz were excellent and very efficient when dealing with our claim and the assistant on the phone was very patient and helpful with me. The whole process was very quick when we got home. I would recommend Allianz when renting a car or camper van as they are great with their excess deals in comparison with other companies.

I found that their information regarding personal belongings damage cover (a canon camera) was quite ambiguous as they did not precisely specify that the insurance only covers external damages and not internal damages.

Icelandair cancelled our flight because of a 24-hour strike. One strike-breaking crew flew a plane in the middle of the strike period, so Allianz said Icelandair "was not on strike" and denied our claim. Conclusion: stay away from Allianz, it is useless.

I got terribly sick when travelling in the US. Allianz was there when I needed them with advice, and covered my charges, including the expense of me having to extend my trip due to illness. It helped that I called them as soon as I could, so they could follow my health and my claims. It was all pretty hassle free.

Unless you're a coconut you want to have a plan B if things go awry, chances are all you want to be thinking about is a boot scooting good time, buy with allianz and it will all be better!
