Allianz refused our trip cancellation claim despite telling us we had grounds for a claim when I phoned them to check before canceling flights and everything else. They said the policy covered changes in circumstances (covid-19) over the phone but when I claimed they refused saying they won’t cover changes made due to government policy. I know everyone is in a difficult situation this year but advice, service, manners, and excuses by Allianz has been pathetic. Never again.

Cancelling due to Covid 19 is not covered, epidemics and pandemics are not covered. VERY VERY little is actually covered. Don't waste your time and money with this company.

The worst company ever. Our nation is in a pandemic, all travel shut down by President. They STOLE all our money, plus the insurance money. SHAME ON ALLIANZ.... Will not even work with people. Their employees are robots and say the same thing. NEVER buy from them.

Viking gave us an option to cancel our May-June Rhine River Cruise to help save lives. Allianz informs us through AAA they will not refund policy cost for which they have not realized a loss; but will give us a credit that can be used during the next 12 month. Don't know if AAA received a commission from Allianz to refer us to them. Don't know if we can take a cruise within a year. Will recommend AAA never use or refer Allianz again and will rate Allianz a zero on every forum I can.

None of us can control when a global pandemic happens and we are not allowed to travel due to government restrictions, company cancellations and quarantines. Yet this company denies saying "policy does not cover epidemics". It's not an epidemic, COVID-19 is a global pandemic and there is a difference between the two. Through no control on my part on not being able to travel, I'm out of a lot of money because I picked a travel insurance company that refuses to pay out any claims.

I had an accident and have to use a wheelchair. The company didn't provide any assistance at all! Medically a nurse had me 2h on the phone yelling at me and saying that I should be very incompetent if I can't move around on crutches (both legs injured)They refused to help me to get an earlier flight after my original one was delayed until next day - all of this knowing that I need mobility assistance (of course after a guy yelled at me and literally said "you keep quiet, you are not allowed to speak until I don't say so" They provided zero assistance and made everything go from bad to worse!!!!! Never ever again I’ll do business with them - not a single person here was respectful They rejected the case after receiving all documentation and not even inform me (no reason explained) Btw - this was all through the emergency line (that according to them take 24h to solve any case - Seriously, 24h for emergency!)

Worst travel insurance company. They sent around an 'investigator' who insisted he come to our home. He was intimidating and a bully.

Using their fine print they tried to not pay out my claim due to a missed connection flight. I found a small loop hole in their clause which forced them to pay out. Took a while though.

Spoke to Allianz before agreeing to the expense, they still found a way to not pay out. All I can say is the policy is very very carefully worded to exclude every possible payout.

The most unsupportive Travel Insurers I have ever dealt with. I had the unpleasant surprise of their time frame build up. If you are expected to submit more documents to support your claim expect another extra 10 business days from the date of your recent documents sent.

Will never use again- do NOT TRUST- could not use the online portal despite weeks of attempts. My fear is- what if this was a real emergency (not a medical claim)? What if I needed to be taken to a hospital and have the insurance operate stright away? I do not trust them.My experience in more detail:I paid for the policy through Teachers Health. I then got my certificate of insurance from Allianz Global. After some emergency dental treatment in Thailand, tried the ALLIANZ online claim porta. It didn't work on any of my devices,Thought it might be my i-pad, so I tried my laptop (still no luck)registered my policy and let me proceed through stages:
1: Your details
2: Trip Details
3: Would not allow me to select in drop downmenu.

I sent about 10 emails, only 2 replied to. Got home and have been trying on my desktop (with different browsers etc) many, many times. Called them, in the morning and was advised by {name removed} (who was very nice and apologetic) that her supervisor, {name removed} -told her the 'system was down' and they had only been alerted to this at that point (even though I have been trying for weeks). This is when I really realised that they were giving me the run around. A huge company like this has only been alerted to the portal not working that day? B.SI was sent a 9 page claim form to fill out. That's all well and good- I understand insurance companies need to prove the legitimacy of claims. I just want to know why my policy number would not work online.I was told to try again later that afternoon. Which I did, and it still didn't let me pass stage 3 on the portal. I called up and once again explained my situation. (I wish I had got the rep's name. He was very confident and well versed in the content of my claim but could not actually give me reasons why the portal was not working for me.) I was told by the representative that he wasn't in I.T so he didn't know why it wasn't working. I asked if there were many policies that couldn't get past the third question and he stated that there are just some numbers that the 'system doesn't like'. He explained more about the policy claim- which was good but then - get this- he told me the IT guy was listening and came to whisper in his ear that the portal was now fixed, and that I should try, I did- and it din't work. Tried again this morning- and decided that I will let other people know about this dubious practice of not allowing some claims to work on the portal.
I had to cancel my trip to Missouri. The flight was under $300 & I have supplied required paperwork. It’s delay after delay. I don’t believe they ever had any intention of reimbursement.
