The Tick Experience! Avoid like the plague! Tick will use every tactic to avoid paying a claim. My family tested positive for Covid 19. Airline tickets were nonrefundable and not eligible for vouchers as listed in public policy. Methods of obstruction by tick. 1: Residency status. Told I had to be an Australian citizen or PR, which I am. But this is not stated when you purchase the policy. 2: Demand for copies of ID that could be used in identity thief. Copy of passport, Medicare card, bank account statement showing how I paid for airfare although they were given airline receipt, Visa number, basically enough ID to be you. Any medical history to prove preexisting conditions as a disqualifier. Deductibles by category @ $200 each. So, for flight minus $200, accommodations minus $200, for food, transportation, and on and on to lower cost. Finally, when I stated that I contacted the airlines before contacting Tick, I was told by the claims adjuster that I needed a letter stating the airline public policy and that they would HELP ME, take it to a government agency to see if I could revolve the issue that way, But I had to do all the work. If you assume that Tick will make it easy to make a claim, you are very wrong. Your chance of a successful claim are slim to none. Poor customer service, hidden details after purchase, be prepare for extensive obstructions and delays. Only use Tick Insurance if you want a lesson in the type of travel insurance company NOT TO USE.

I highly doubt the staff has any experience in all, dealing with claims and customer service in general. Very confusing and tricky when a claim is submitted as you will just be responded by email by different people if something needs to be asked or checked . Not given any information or clear details or help or support on what a customer should do or submit clearly for a claim in order non to get to contact them every time for explanations or questions. Documents submitted got lost by them and not had been contacted by them to be advised for this until I did so looking at the long time they take to reply to you or get back to you. If you don't ask or check things they don't say or advice you with nothing. The people "customer service staff" I often called via phone they seemed or sounded often annoyed or disturbed of being called and to answer customer inquires. Not helpful at all and very bad experience over all.

Refused to pay on the basis that I was stuck in Norway but our government had declared it a No Travel zone! Hello?! I was travelling when the pandemic struck, that's what insurance is supposed to be for!<br/><br/>"Your original trip was through a country or area included on the list of countries not recommended by the Australian Government through the smart traveller website on 18 March, your claim falls under the general exclusion applicable to all sections of the policy. Therefore, we unfortunately cannot cover your prepaid expenses."

Unbelievably bad company. Extremely poor customer service, they never return phone calls. They always claim that they call back with in 24 to 48 hours.<br/>I have also been disconnected on numerous occasions after waiting over 15 minutes.<br/>Avoid this insurance company at all cost they will rip you off.

Insurance purchased last year - took 2 months to get a refusal. Happy to take your money, but won't pay out. our flights were cancelled, but TICK won't pay up because the airline offered us an alternative flight for later in the year, which had to be booked by May 2020. As there aren't even any flights yet, we can't book alternatives and can't get a refund.<br/>Save your money and go for a proper insurance company with decent staff

I paid for top level cover but when they sent me a link to my policy it was budget cover and useless. Didn't respond to my complaints. Avoid.
