I spend each week trying to get hold of their customer services only to be promised a call back or email response. Having brought their comprehensive travel insurance I was told they would honour any cancellation claims however, I have found out that their requirements are designed to make any claim almost impossible. The travel agents and accommodation places are not responding to emails and according o Tick I need them to provide a cancellation certificate. GotoGate and MyTrips have even disconnected their hot line. I also had a boat trip in Colombia booked and they are not responding. Airlines such as Copa and Interjet will not provide any information saying I need to go travel agents I booked through. It's a vicious circle where travel agents do not respond and Tick Insurance (after getting a response) refuse to pay out on any claim unless they have a formal cancellation certificate. There is no compassion or understanding of the impacts of COVID and being able to get cancellation certificates. I have provided my credit card and bank statements sowing payment, airfare tickets and accommodation bookings all clearly labelled non refundable.

Think twice before purchasing Tick Insurance You may think you are covered however, this assumes you are able to get all the information required under their policy which may not be attainable in extreme events such as the COVID pandemic.

----

Since writing the above, TICK Insurance have completely and utterly attempted to frustrate things further with the same requests. The most recent is to get a cancellation notice from the US Department of Immigration to say my Visa application is cancelled. Similar to hotels with a non refundable non cancellation policy, the US Dept of Immigration are not going to cancel nor provide a cancellation notice yet TICK are refusing to cover the costs.

I would add TICK customer service could not be this poor. They have made a decision to frustrate claims in the hope their customers give up and go away. Very poor given the circumstances. All I want to be reimbursed for out of travel expenses which are covered under my comprehensive travel policy. How can this be unreasonable?

Please re-consider TICK if you are looking at travel insurance. It's a Policy thwart with exceptions and terms which make it impossible claim.

I purchased Insurance Cover from Tick a week after the pandemic was declared. With travel bans in place , the trip can not go ahead. The Insurance Policy provides zero benefit because no claims can or will be made. Tick accepted the payment fraudulently knowing that the pandemic had been declared and therefore there could never be a claim made.
I have made comment to Tick and received a similar reply to all others and given the option to escalate the complaint but all attempts to do so result in bounced emails. Most travel insurance companies appear to have accepted advice from ACCC and refunded policy payments that become redundant because of the Covid 19. Not TICK.
I will never use Tick ever again as they appear to be a scam company willing to take our money with no chance of losing any of their income through claims.

Wasn't aware that I wasn't covered for covid and they won't even refund the money for the insurance. They claim it was on their site when i booked which it wasn't.

It's also not in their pdf which they send which means legally you should be covered. Don't bother with the complaints email that no doubt the responder will try sending as they don't reply. Taking them to the ACCC!

This company has kept my payment for travel insurance even though they are not providing me a service due to travel restrictions and cancellations caused by COVID 19 pandemic. No option to use at a later date. Seems fraudulent to me.

Amid Caronavirus most insurance companies are refunding travel nsurance policies due to it not being the fault of the travellers but imposed travel restrictions. But not Tick Insurance! At a time when people are out of work and need any money they have this is a reprehensible attitude.

Aren't prepared to postpone my policy in wake of airline cancelling my flights (COVID-19) let alone reimbursing me. Shameful service that accepts no responsibility nor accountability.

I’ve purchased Tick Travel insurance on several occasions for overseas travel. Their insurance is reasonably priced, can insure me for most locations around the world, provides a wide range of cover (but not for everything), and is available to senior citizens who are often excluded by other travel insurance companies. Of course it’s prudent to read their Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) before purchasing to see what actually may not be covered. In hindsight you can sometimes find out you are not covered for an event you’ve never considered such as the Coronavirus pandemic named COVID-19 or bankruptcy of a tour operator.

My travelling companion suddenly became injured and was unable to travel, an event which was covered in the Tick PDS. We were both no longer travelling because of the injury so I lodged a claim for the loss of some airline fees and the percentage of my travel package which was not reimbursed by our travel company because our cancellation being quite close to the travel dates. I was able to provide all of the required documentation and Tick settled the full amount of my claim for which I was most relieved.

I have no hesitation in giving Tick full marks for both their travel insurance cover and claim settlement. I’ll definitely continue insuring with Tick for my future worldwide travels.
