Insure n Go Travel Insurance Review

I looked at many insurance companies for cover, Insure and Go was the only one that would cover my condition and give me peace of mind to travel.

We have insured with insure and Go for many years never having had to make a claim. We were reassured with the choice product review and felt confident that this insurance company would look after us if anything untoward happened. During a recent trip to LA I was very ill. Despite repeated calls to the medical assistance team I only ever spoke to someone in the Philippines and never had any assistance other than a series of emails and documents mailed to me. At no point during the horrendous 5 days of illness did this company provide any assistance at all. This, after all, is what you pay for isn't it? The knowledge that if you get ill away from home you will be helped. Additionally my condition if left untreated would have resulted in septic shock however because the treatment was dental of the $4000 AUD we paid in the USA for treatment this company would only approve $400 AUD. Yep that's right 10%. What a joke. Not only did they not help but we were left with an enormous debt as they didn't recognise my condition as a medical emergency. Never ever again will we insure with this company.

InsureandGo travel insurance provides good comprehensive covers including cruises etc. It also covers travellers with a wide range of pre-existing medical conditions. However, the additional premiums payable for those medical conditions beyond the standard range can be quite expensive.

I have used insureandGo for about my last 5 trips and they have consistently been 30-40% cheaper for the same cover than anything else I have been able to find. I have never has to do a claim, maybe I'll write another review if I do :)

Happy with the way the claim was handled. However, I had expected the insurance to cover all the items stolen. The fact that they weren't shown on the Police report was due partly to lack of English by the police and partly because I had rushed off to file the report and then discovered later in the day that other items were missing. The police report was written in a foreign language and I was told I had to sign it, even though I couldn't read it!

We initially chose Insure and Go because of the competitive pricing. The cover was comprehensive and appeared to cover all our needs. We made a small claim on return which proved to be more difficult than it needed to be but the claim was resolved satisfactorily.

Had to make a claim in regards to luggage lost then found . Explained what was required by me and claim paid in full. Excellent service

Would like to see an option to enable the selection of any of the features for a personally tailored insurance package to better suit individual requirements. This can be in addition to the standard packages available.

Great value travel insurance that I always use when going overseas. A couple of times I had to make claims and I had to jump through a few hoops to get them to pay, but it all worked out in the end. Recommended.

Tried to claim for trip not able to be undertaken to do the right thing for an injured pet that required emergency surgery who couldn't walk for 6 weeks post op who is still now having surgery. He had his 5th surgery yesterday and yet that is not enough of a reason to compensate on some flights to Bali. Disgusting. Animals are sentient beings especially the family pet for someone who is unable to have children.

Despite having to cancel our trip to the UK and USA only 2 days into it due to a medical emergency, InsureandGo were very helpful indeed in getting us back to Australia. Then, when we got back and made our claim for Trip Cancellation costs, they were prepared to pay the claim (in full!) in instalments to allow us to sort out the complications of cancelled bookings and Round the World airfares. I will definitely use them for our next trip!

I am not impressed that my claims were not valid as all my medical receipts were in French, Dutch and German. When you are on the road in Europe and you need medical assistance, you have to pay cash up front and obviously you are issued a receipt in their language. They do not issue them in english!I had claimed about 900 Euro on return, which was not valid because my receipts were not in English. InsureandGo expected me to provide them with all my receipts translated to English, which would incur more expenses. Surely they can have someone translate in-house. They are a travel insurance company after all.
