Have a check-up before you go

Be honest with your insurer and have a check-up before you go to make sure you provide them with up-to-date-medical records.

Make sure you also check with your doctor to see if you need to change any of your prescriptions due to different locations or time zones.

Take a doctor’s note with you when you travel

You’re going to need a medical declaration anyway to get travel insurance – so make sure you take this with you when you travel. Also remember that different countries have different regulations and medicine you take in your country make not be allowed where you are going. Take a medical note to make sure you don’t have any problems at customs.

Medical treatment overseas

If you’re going to a country that you don’t speak the local language in – be careful of any medication you might buy there. Be sure to check you are buying the correct medicine for your condition.

Before you embark on your adventure make sure you check what vaccinations you might need. Senior travellers might need a flu injection too.
