Not sure why Woolworths are different to everyone else, but NEVER take out group/family/couple policies. If you insist on taking out a policy with Woolworths, ensure you take out individual policies for each person. The reason being, taking out individual policies you get full value for money. Say for example, on the individual full comprehensive policy you get up to $10,000 that's payable. If you take out a couple policy, which is the same money as just two individual policies, HOWEVER, the amounts that you can claim aren't doubled... So, if both persons on the couples policy lost their baggage, they'd have to split the $10,000 between them. Even though they've paid exactly the same amount each as what someone on an individual policy has, all the payable amounts have to get divided by how many persons are on the policy. It's absolutely sneaky as. I rang and spoke with Woolworths insurance and confirmed that was the case. When asked, why? The lady simply said, "It's a very good question and perhaps that's one for the underwriter". Very very sneaky. When you really get into the policy, it's actually quite poor what you're actually getting. AVOID. Do your research and ensure you don't fall victim to companies like this!

I lost my back pack in thailand in a local tuk tuk and my claim was declined showing the cause that the item was left unattended in a public place.

This scammers don't know the meaning of accidental loss of item which any other insurance will have without any question.

I asked some other insurer regarding the situation and they had the laugh of the day.. they couldn't even believe the response of this scammers.

After 5 weeks of frustratingly hopeless communication my legitimate claim has been denied for an invalid reason. I AM FURIOUS!

I've been pursuing my claim now for 7 months. The claims department are trying their hardest to avoid and lengthen the claim process.

It is extremely dissapointing and disheartening. Avoid this service at all costs.

Claims dept. are trying their hardest to prove pre existing illness in our case when they already have a Doctors signed document of no pre existing illness, are they calling the doctor a liar. What do we pay travel insurance for, to prove our innocence when filling out a claim form.

I put in a claim for my camera that was stolen at the end of my holiday in italy. My claim was completely legitimate. Yet they refused to pay anything. I DO NOT RECOMMEND using Woolworths travel insurance.

Regrettably chose the 'saver option' after their policy page clearly stated that they covered essential items up to $5,000 such as mobiles - only to discover they don't cover mobiles in fine print AFTER purchasing the policy. I don't appreciate the intention to purposely mislead clients. If they want to be strategic then they should try being honest so that their well informed clients can choose a more suitable option for cover instead of being fooled and leaving without nothing other than a contribution towards a bad review.

The call centre was absolutely shocking. Couldn't hear due to the overseas delay. Giggling, loud girls in the background made it even worse. The girl could barely speak English and she couldn't understand some very basic language. Asked me inappropriate/not relevant questions ("Who was my son with" ???????) and overall just seemed mega dumb. Let's see if they pay up. I'm not holding my breath. Should have spent more and gone to AAMI. Unprofessional, horrific call centre.

I've spent the past six weeks dealing with Woolworths regarding a claim for a lost camera, and it's been a terrible, aggravating experience with a company that goes out of its way not to help the customer.

I've provided all evidence and documents necessary to prove my story, but have been told straight up that I'm lying and that Woolworths won't be honouring their deal. From talking to the claims officer who refused my claim, it's obvious that she hadn't looked into my case and had no knowledge of or interest in it whatsoever.

Woolworths Insurance provides an awful, awful service and WILL NOT be there if you need them. I can only imagine what would happen if they were needed in a medical emergency - they'd probably give you the run-around for a month until you died! Don't waste a cent on this mob, they're absolutely rubbish.
Have submitted a complaint through FOS. Like other reviewers been nearly 2 months and privided everything requested but still no response. I hate to think what would happen with a more substantial claim. Avoid!!!!'
