The reason you buy travel insurance is for when things go wrong.<br/>Buyer Beware. Please read your Policy and choose your company carefully. We pay money in good faith and to cover for unforeseen circumstances. Overseas trips are once in a lifetime opportunities, we pay our hard earned money to have these opportunities. It's not often things go wrong but when they do, it can be a huge financial blow.<br/>What is really sad is that the general public buys insurance products which give them back very little back and Insurance policy statements are confusing and therefore misleading in nature. Please read policy CAREFULLY, take out the necessary extra insurances<br/>Covermore state in section 3 part 1 of their policy under Amendment of Cancellation Costs<br/>Due to circumstances outside of your control and unforeseeable at the relevant time you have to rearrange your journey prior to leaving home, we will pay the reasonable cost of doing so.<br/>Ummm No they won't!!! Read your policy because they won't cover airline cancellation for any other reason than the airline striking! To state that they will pay cancellation costs and then put a caveat in their policy to say they will only pay if the airline strikes ,in my opinion is misleading.<br/>I had to change my tickets at a very high cost due to Garuda airlines completely cancelling a flight path to Nias Indonesia. I was going on a surf trip and I surf longboards. Garuda is the only airline company that would take my particular length boards. I had to change my entire flight path and all my tickets to be able to carry my surfing equipment with me as Lion air the only other operator available does not accept boards over the length I needed.<br/>Covermore are not paying my claim for the costs of me re-arranging my journey due to not being able to carry my surf equipment because of a flight cancellation. The reason my tickets were changed was due to UNFORSEEABLE circumstances outside of my control resulting in me needing to re-arrange my ENTIRE journey. I cannot magically learn to surf a board half the size of my normal board in 2months after surfing particular boards for 14 years in order to take a flight path that is more convenient and cost effective.<br/>However, Covermore is trying to avoid paying my claim by saying they do not cover airline cancellations other than for the airline striking. Airline cancellation is not the reason I had to rearrange my whole journey however this is Covermore's reason for not paying out my ticket change.<br/>I have lodged a complaint with Flight Centre about recommending Covermore as a travel insurance provider. I will so be lodging another complaint with Australian Financial Complaint Authority. I also urge you to lodge complaints with AFCA as these companies need to held accountable for the way they offer peace of mind however do far less than that when all the small print is read properly.<br/>Covermore dosen't want to pay claims and help people. They want your money!<br/>These guys are ruthless and you may as well have cut your insurance out of a cereal box. They have not taken the time to understand the claim and tried to find any caveat in their policy in order not to pay.<br/>Be careful if you have any pre-existing medical conditions that include mental health problems. Some insurance companies can legally discriminate you in their policies. You are not covered for many reasons. Meaning that in some ways the policies are useless in which I found with Covermore.

Do not use, terrible service and waste of money. Having just been to Bali my partner and I had a couple of claims to make. For items stolen and for my boyfriend falling sick. I checked the PDS before buying the policy to see that on page 4 it states that luggage (including mobile phones) is covered up to $5K....but on page 45 it then details sub-limits and my $1900 phone was in fact only covered for $600! If they weren’t being sneaky then they’d have the sub limits with the benefits table! In regards to their terrible customer service; I called for an update 16 business days after putting in a claim to be told an email had been sent to me 5 days prior asking for further details, I had nothing in either inbox or junk mail, blatant lies to cover up that they hadn’t got back to me in the advised time frame of 10 days. We then received an email advising of an attached response, but no attachment and so I had to sit on hold to them for 20 mins to have it sent again. Finally, I was dealing with a claims investigator in regards to my stolen items, I was advised I’d receive a response to my claim by COB 4th Feb, I received nothing. I emailed the investigator asking for an update and by 10:30am the next day, still no response. I spent half an hour on hold to them to be told i will be receiving it now. 2 hours later and still nothing. I call again (another 30 mins on hold), this time to be told I will get an urgent call back from the claims officer. Another 2 hours later and still nothing! I call for a third time and finally get put through to the claims officer, who sounds unimpressed with my call and finally get the document sent through to me at 3pm. I have spent more than 4 hours on the phone to Covermore since returning from my trip, awful service! Do yourself a favour and steer clear of Covermore.

We had a small medical incident in Fiji (broken little toe, was deformed), called the hotline spoke to a nurse and then doctor. Directed to what hospital we should go to in Fiji. Got a follow up call two days later to make sure everything was ok. On return lodged the claim online, provided what documents we had (probably need to provide too much but no real issue). Lodged the claim at 10pm Monday night, claim approved 11:30am Tuesday.

Booked a cruise just after Christmas for me and my wife and our two friends in May. Unfortunately due to unforeseen health problems one of our friends was admitted into hospital due to heart problems and our two friends were no longer able to travel. After taking out $1500 in travel insurance we assumed that the cost of the cruise for the two friends which amounts to around $3000 would be refunded. After 7 months of back and forth and countless doctor reports Cover-more rejected our claim and never received any information why this decision was made. After losing almost $4500 more expenses will be adding up due to hiring a solicitor and other expenses involved in taking this further. If you're considering Cover-more I highly recommend you go with a more legitimate and more professional company.

This review is in relation to a cancelled Ryan Air flight which caused massive disruptions to our holiday plans. I expected Cover More to be honorable and protect me for the considerable associated extra costs of the cancellation. Nothing could be further from the truth. CM dragged the claim process out for over 6 weeks before finding small print to deny my genuine claim. If anyone is dumb enough to use Cover More after my experience you deserve what you get. Beware Cover More - they will not cover you, they will not protect you when you most need it. Instead take out travel insurance with a reputable company who will look after you when you have a travel problem. Only 1 star rating because this site won't allow a zero star rating.

I went overseas to Hawaii in July 2017, resulted in having an allergic reaction and had to go to Hospital. Had to pay $700US up front to the hospital (assuming we would get it back straight away). I was still trying to claim from Cover-more in May 2018. Absolutely ridiculous! ALMOST 10-11 MONTHS!<br/><br/>They keep coming back to me saying it will be a further 10 days before i get any response.<br/>Or that they need further documentation to support my claim. I don't understand why they don't just request all the required documents to start off with. As I provided all medical documents and filled out all the paperwork necessary from my family doctor/doctor from the Hospital in Hawaii.<br/><br/>Covermore came back and said it was my fault for not providing the necessary documents, although I had already provided all the documents that was necessary for my claim.<br/>Ended up sending the same documents 2-3 times, felt like it was just going around in circles before any progress was made, even then the claim would backfire and I would have to resend the hospital bill or my medical records through to them again. I felt like they are just finding an excuse to not make the claim as we owed $2000US to the Hospital in Hawaii and we had already paid over $1000US on medication and doctors bills.<br/><br/>I eventually received all expenses paid in relation to my medical incident at the end of July 2018, but took well over a year to get anything back. Would really recommend going with someone else, Covermore representatives were no help whatsoever.

Covermore used to cover Type 1 Diabetics automatically as long has you have a hba1c under 9. They now ask that you take a medical assessment and pay more for the same cover. There are plenty of companies which offer this cover automatically such as Allianz, 1Cover etc so I don't recommend them.

Followed their advice whilst overseas. Now are facing endless delays in being paid. Very poor customer service, slow to respond.

Interesting that positive reviews relate to ease of insurance purchase, not claiming. Interacting with this group has exacerbated my husband's health issues which caused us to lodge the claim. Do not bother with this cover if you have had any previous health issues.

Utterly a rip off and flight centre are as bad for selling the dodgy policies. Shall not use either again after my experiences. Lesson learnt dont buy a travel insurance policy on recommendation by travel agent. At my age and travel experience i should have known better
Got questions?
On Cover-More's website you can only buy a policy for up to 6 people.
Yes, you don't even need to pick a cruise specific policy. Here's a top tip: Even if you're travelling in Aussie water you still need to pick pacific.
Yes if you purchase Cover-More's snow sports activity option. This policy will cover for $1,500 worth of skiing equipment, $1,000 piste closure and $1,500 skiing pre-paid costs.
Yes if you select their 'buy-out' option you can decrease your excess to nil.
Cover-More allow you to increase the single item for luggage up to $4,500 by paying an additional premium. For multiple items the overall increase in limits cannot increase $7,000. You can also pay to increase car hire excess to $3,500.
Nope, you're not covered for any claims arising from the insolvency of any travel agent, tour operator, accommodation provider, airline or other carrier, car rental agency or any other travel or tourism services provider that provides services or accommodation.
No, you can only buy cover if you are a resident of Australia and will be returning home before your policy ends. Non-Residents living outside of Australia can obtain Australian inbound travel insurance cover provided they return to their country of residence at the completion of the period of insurance (and within 18 months of the journey commencing).
You are only insured to ride a bike up to 200cc irrespective of what's on your license. There is no cover unless you hold a valid license in Australia for the same class of vehicle you are operating overseas, and you are wearing a helmet.
12 months.
Having too much fun? You cannot extend your current policy, but it's no problem to just purchase a new one. If a medical condition arises before buying the second policy, this condition may now be considered a pre-existing medical condition. So make sure you notify Cover-More if your health status changes at all.
If you are planning to hire a car overseas, you may want to take out additional car hire excess to avoid a hefty bill from the rental company in the event of an accident. Both Options and Travel Sure already have car hire excess in place but you have the power to increase this excess to $3,500 for an additional premium loading. You are only covered for a rented sedan, campervan, hatchback or station-wagon (including 4WDs) rented from a licensed motor vehicle rental company.
Insurance administered by Cover-More Insurance Services Pty Ltd (ABN 95 003 114 145, AFSL 241713) and issued by Zurich Australian Insurance Limited (ABN 13 000 296 640, AFSL 232507).
15 days.
Sydney!
We have done numerous overseas trips and cruises and never made a claim. Paid out a small fortune for travel insurance. Both of us being in good health, our biggest concern has always been coverage for accidental injury so this cover fits the bill exactly for us.
