The purchasing of this insurance , has given me peace of mind for my upcoming trip to the United States and Canada.Whilst I am not anticipating a claim, the knowledge that I have purchased a comprehensive insurance policy, will make life easier in case the need arises.

I purchased cover after reading the web material. However my certificate said that cover was not available in the country I was visiting. Lengthy discussions with the company before they acknowledged their mistake.

It’s now July, while on a domestic holiday to Melbourne with my husband I had a fall, 28th March 2019. This resulted in a 3 week hospital admission. We were on the 2nd day of a 6 night holiday. After making a claim followed by me requesting a review, regarding their decision – then another, their process escapes any logic. I’m still waiting for their answer of the 2nd request to try to understand their decision. I was assured it would be addressed last week. I have sent emails and made phone calls and simply been “put off” time and time again. Yet when I was in hospital for 3 weeks we were harassed daily for updates by email and phone calls. We have paid a total excess of $400. Insure and Go decide what event category your claim fits under. Our excess was $100 per person, per event. For example, my Husbands claim of $124.90 apparently covered 2 events – (1 event for $17.50 the other $107.40) incurring a $200 excess.Stay with me on this –our claim was for $124.90 - deemed to encompass 2 events resulting in a $200 excess. It’s now cost us $324.90. So he’s in the red to Insure and Go by $75.10 this they recovered by deducting from my proportion of the claim – really! Result we paid our receipted expenditure of $124.90 plus $75.1. Our claim was for a total of $3023.08. Medical expenses were covered by Medicare. We paid a premium of $145.89. A deduction was made from our claim: by Insure and Go for their “acknowledged” expenses was an excess of $400. The actual reimbursement we received (after 2 attempts) totaled $360.99. All receipts and documentation, as requested, was submitted supporting our claim. Seriously who in their right mind would take out Travel Insurance with Insure and Go. They promote Easy claims – they say they cover unexpected – unbudgeted expenses. Sorry this is not our experience. We are extremely disappointed and would definitely not recommend Insure and Go.

I have had a great experience with Insure and Go in the past and this is the reason why I am using them again. I took out my Insurance Policy this time online and found the website easy to navigate. Although my claim from my last holiday was invalid due to excess I found the claims team to be extremely helpful.

My travel insurer of over 20 claim free years dumped us when my husband turned 70. Moved to another company for 3 claim free years and got dumped again!
Not only would InsureandGo insure us for multi-trip annual travel...they were hundreds of dollars cheaper than the previous insurer. As I have never had a claim I cannot comment on that aspect.

I have used Insure and Go several times. It would have been quicker if I could have downloaded the medical questionnaire I submitted last time.

I have found Insureandgo very competitive and very comprehensive in their offers in comparison to other companies. I am very happy with the Gold cover I have purchased. The website was very easy to navigate and offered a good selection of covers. Value for money!

Having arranged a couple of holidays this year, travel insurance was next on the card. The monthly Seniors magazine had an offer of 15% off for seniors from insureandgo , so I compared with two other companies and found insureandgo to be the most competitively priced and suited my requirements.

After being a loyal customer for 4 years, countless trips and not a single claim - I finally needed to make a claim. I had always purchased the Gold plan, so felt comfortable with my claim because it includes lost items.

On a flight back from the US, and in my tired state, I left my laptop in the seatback pocket. Of course, the airline couldn't find it, so I had no choice but to make a claim as I need the laptop to run my own business.

I completed the online claim form to start the process but the claim process isn't simple. Firstly, I had to submit a 'Repair report' before I submitted my claim, which was a challenge because I couldn't send my lost laptop to be repaired.... because it was lost!

After my claim was submitted I had to wait 10 business days. During that time, I received no update. After I emailed to ask for an update I was told the claim would be processed within 5 days (that's 13 business days not 10). I thought great!

5 days later I received an emailing saying my claim had been.... rejected. The response went into great detail about why it wasn't approved. So, the claims team had spent 13 business days scouring through the conditions of the policy to see where I couldn't be covered. All for a claim that was under $2,000.

The lesson? It would have been better to save the money I had spent on travel insurance to pay for a replacement laptop. I shudder to think of what would happen if I had an emergency or a high dollar-value claim. Good luck with that!

I could have lodged an appeal but the reality is they wouldn't have changed their decision and it would only have been a further waste of my time.

If I do get a response from InsureAndGo, they will likely send a standard response about how they go to great lengths to explain the conditions of the insurance (Note: Not sure about the 'great lengths' part as they simply sent me a link to their PDS). The reality is the things they say you're covered for... probably aren't covered, or they will go to great lengths to find reasons for why your claim won't be paid.

I'll be looking for a different travel insurance provider as InsureAndGo has made me 'InsureAndStop'. I'd encourage you to do the same!

The website is very easy to navigate, from getting the quote, to adding existing medical conditions, to submitting payment. We have used Insure and go 6 times, but never had to claim yet.
