I have bought annual travel insurance for almost a decade now, and decided to try this out.

1. The limitations in their policy wording is ridiculous. My flight in the US was cancelled because of the airline ran out of crew, due to various delays because of the 'winter' weather. My claim was rejected because 'it was not weather' and they only limit claims on 'typhoon, earthquake, or tsunami'.

I am only claiming to get my pre-payments on hotel back.

2. My luggage was broken by the airline, and I followed every single wording on the instruction. They get back to me after 3 months to fill up a form.

The point for these travel insurance is you pray you'll never have to use them. But if this is becomes this limited then there is no point.

They ask me first to select a plan, then my credit card details, followed by my personal particulars. When I keyed in my age, their system didn't accept and hanged there (may be over the age limit). I had no choice but to abort the application and I was surprised later that they billed me even wwen my application was not completed or finalised, They refused to issue a full refund when I appealed

Do not go for wise traveller insurance. Their response is super slow and their term and condition make it hard for you to claim from them

Below is my experience

On 1st Sept, I submit my claim for damaged luggage. Then I was referred to another email.

On 3rd Sept,I email to the email address that is given to me. No response from them at all

On 11 Sept, I tried to email them again also no response

On 20 Sept, I decided to submit a response on their website. Finally I get a response from them but they ask me to wait for an response

On 22 Sept, Lindy Chan from Head of Casualty, Financial Lines & A&H Claims, Asia Pacific response to me and reject my claim

The reason for rejecting are as follow

Based on the claim form, we understand that you discovered your damaged luggage when you are back in Singapore on 29 August 2022. Please note under Section 10.2 (b) and ( c) , we will not pay for losses if you do not report to the Carrier You were travelling on when the damage occurred and if the damage is not supported by proof of ownership, value and age.
How am I going to prove the ownership, value and age when the luggage is bought before covid period and receipt has been throw away long time ago. Who will keep a receipt for more than 2 years. They can come to my house to verify the luggage if they really want to prove the ownership

I only realise the damaged of the luggage after I unpack my cloth which is next day. How am I able to go n report the carrier?

As you can see the timeline for claim and response is very slow. They will give all reason to reject the claim. I have so much better experience with other travel insurance.

I will never choose Wise traveller again

I bought an annual travel insurance plan with Wise insurance in Singapore. I made a return trip to LAX. My travel insurance covers my return trip from Singapore to LAX. My luggage handle was destroyed during my trip back from LAX to Singapore. I made a luggage damage claim against my wise travel insurance policy. I provided all the documentation except the receipt of the luggage which I bought 2 years ago. (I have since lost or misplaced the receipt). My claims was rejected outright with an email from wise travel insurance reason under section 9.2 that they will not pay if the loss or damage is not supported by proof of ownership, value or age. I think this is ridiculous as I have never had to provide such proof for other travel insurance which I bought from other insurance companies. This company is out to take your insurance premium but will not allow you to claim for damage if you suffered one like me. Be wary when you intend to buy travel insurance from this company.

Just great to deal with, the customer service was fantastic and claiming was easy not much more to say. Puts others I've dealt with in the past to shame.

Not often I do this, but this time I really wanted to write a quick thanks to everyone that helped. I had a couple of dumb mishaps on a recent trip and needed some help. Every time I asked something I got a quick response. Even when I eventually made my claim it was pretty easy. I definitely recommend these guys from this personal experience.

Wasn't sure about Wise Traveller but a friend referred me so took a chance. On my first trip I got sick in Bali and had to make a claim and everything was simple, then recently had a trip to Thailand and my flight was delayed and my luggage didn't arrive on the same flight and again my claim was paid quickly. Happy to give this review, the guys I dealt with were helpful the whole way along.

The guys have been just great. Contacted them about my claim and they got it sorted quickly. If you need to ask for anything they will help.

We will only use Wise Traveller from now on for our travel insurance.

Customer service is terrible. I was taken by ambulance to the Paris American Hospital, was left in a hospital in Paris and was not accepted by The Wise Traveller to be covered on my medical insurance. I was seen in the Emergency Department and after the staff checked my passport and my travel insurance they said they needed approval to treat me first from my insurance company. What should have been a reverse charge call and that was never offered. Wise Traveller was only interested in my room number before they would give the hospital assurance that I would be covered. Because I was lying in a bed screaming with extreme pain thinking it was my appendix, they decided they wouldn’t cover me as I was not admitted with a room number. It was a lengthy, drawn out conversation to your company in Singapore and we didn’t get anywhere. Meanwhile I could have died. I agreed to pay myself for a scan it was confirmed I had Kidney Stones and I was to be omitted into a hospital bed. They tried to admit me, but because I didn’t have money to pay (which was why i had travel insurance in the first place), I had to leave the hospital, pay the bill and return to the hotel. The phone call distressed my girlfriend who had made the call and myself who could hear this conversation that was just going around in circles for over 20 minutes at my expense. I have no apology from The Wise Traveller and even with my phone records they say they don’t even have a record of the 20 minute call. Nightmare!

More than happy to write this recommendation. I was referred to Wise Traveller by a friend everything has been been great particularly after a recent accident in Bali. Great service and support.
