We travel overseas usually each year and our travel insurance is covered by our Westpac Altitude Black credit cards.
15 years ago we made a $80,000 claim with no fuss whatsoever I think the underwriter was Zurich.
However last year we had to make a small claim for lost luggage on a Swizz train and QBE made life so difficult. It took endless emails and phone calls to reach a settlement in 5 months!!!. I think the only reason they settled was I said I was informing Westpac of their deliberate incompetence.
Before we next travel overseas I shall ask Westpac who their insurer is. If they are still using QBE i shall take out cover with another company.

Quite literally the worst insurer I have ever used. Claims took 6 months process, staff do not return messages and calls. When you talk to someone in the claims department, they do not act on your provided info or put it in notes, rather just ignore it so the saga drags out another month. Utterly frustrated and annoyed and will never use them for any services.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Lodged ALL docs within 24 hrs of robbery & it took about 5 months & about 40 emails with re-lodging of docs, which they constantly misplaced or misread or didn't read at all, before settlement, which only occurred when I mentioned litigation. I complained also to Westpac & have now changed my cards after 20 years of loyalty. Most unprofessional resulting in a very frustrating experience until the supervisors stepped in to assist me.

We paid our holiday with our credit card and QBE was the insurer. My husband fell while on holiday in South Africa and we had to change our flights while he was hospitalised. We emailed them as soon as we could and the people from the customer service department were wonderful. We had constant communication and they kept asking if there was anything they could help with even while they were assessing the claim. We just had to pay everything up front while they were still assessing. We submitted all the receipts and documents as soon as we were back in Australia - they paid our full claim less the excess 9 working days after submitting all the documents.

I am one of the travellers who was caught up with the Bali Volcanic activity on two occasions. The first time, I called QBE and asked if my insurance covered by my ANZ Premium credit card would insure any trip losses including air fares. I was told the policy would cover most of the loss. Now I am caught between Jetstar and the QBE insurance company. The insurance company won't pay me the costs of air fares for two persons unless Jetstar provide me with a letter stating that the tickets were refundable or non refundable which Jetstar will not do. I can spend rest of the year writing letters to Jetstar and emailing QBE with no result. It is exhausting and stressful and an extremely disappointing

These guys in QBE are not replying on e-mails in general. Although they have website to lodge claim it is absolutely unclear what is happining after that. I have been waiting over 3 weeks sending couple e-mails to confirm that my case is processed in the system.... nop just silence. Very appointing I would newer buy anything from vendor with with such awful customer care.

Wife and daughter injured in UAE. Took them to to hospital for check up. $500 out of pocket including medical report back in Sydney ($150).

QBE took 6 months to process. Final refund $150!

Consultants indifferent and arrogant attitude.

Absolute disgrace.

QBE backs the STA travel insurance I regularly buy. The only insurance I've come across that will cover the complexities of travel in India - where driver's licences are often creative, the possibilities of drama are high and the peace of mind is priceless.

Advise you to be very careful when purchasing travel insurance from Qantas, I recently traveled to Perth and purchased travel insurance which happens to be from QBE and their customer service is terrible, duplicated my claim, did not return calls or replied to emails and then used clause 8 to refuse my claim, so basically if you hire a car or motor home (which is what we did) and you get robbed they will not cover you for any valuables stolen such as cameras, computers etc, its a rip of as they will also not make you aware of these clauses nor tell you to read them. Qantas must know how QBE is treating your customers and should consider not renewing their policy with QBE. Instead find a reputable insurance company that will cover your assets if they are stolen from your motor home. Shame on you QBE, and guilty by association Qantas, as I only purchased the travel insurance as a result of their recommendation, I wonder if there is a kick back from QBE on each policy Qantas sells when people purchase travel insurance at the time of booking their flights, a very very disappointing experience and a very frustrated Qantas frequent flyer, might have to reconsider flying with them again as well> As for QBE never ever again will I have anything to do with you mob.

I went with QBE last time I travelled overseas because they were recommended by Qantas. Checked out other policies first and they were very competitive and I thought the company trustworthy and reliable. Luckily I did not have to make a claim as the trip was successful with no illness or accidents.
