Allianz travel insurance plan that I had opted for clearly stated that in case of loss or theft the same must be reported to them within 24 hours. When I lost my baggage and travel documents, I tried calling their 24 hour emergency support, but couldn't get through. When I finally spoke to the customer service agent I was informed that my claim will not be filed as I had breached the deadline for reporting the loss. Unbelievably shoddy service!

Allianz is the best bet for travel insurance. My insurance was automatically extended when I was delayed due to bad weather on my way back home. I even got paid for expenses due to the delay, while it is not much, I am glad that they honoured their end of the benefits provided.

Allianz travel insurance is terrible. Despite multiple warnings about past experiences from friends, I went ahead with them due to their reputation. I got the policy for my trip to the US via US Airways. Coincidentally, a close relative of mine was diagnosed with a serious illness and I had to cancel that trip. Allianz was excellent at finding loop holes for not approving my claim. In the end, their consensus was my cancellation was not covered because the medical diagnosis was not covered. My personal experience with Allianz has been not all that good. I made a claim for my lost baggage, and although it took some time to process the claim, it was eventually passed. However, I got back less than 50% of my total loss.

I purchased the Allianz Comprehensive travel insurance on a vacation to Europe with my family. During the trip, I had severe tooth ache and hence had to stay back to get it treated. Allianz covered for the medical cost and paid for the cost of my pre-booked tour because I had to get treatment. I recommend Allianz to all people travelling abroad.
