iTrek Travel Insurance Reviews

I used these guys when travelling to Europe, and during the trip I became ill and required a doctor. My phone was also stolen on the way to the airport. When I made a claim for my expenses, the process was made really easy for me, and they completed the claim in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this company, and will be using them again in the future. Cheers.

I paid iTrek $700 for a long trip around the world. Once I got through they excellent sales team, everything turned pear shaped. Instead of insurance I seem to have had:

a) emails bouncing because their official confirmation letter has wrong email address
b) emails ignored when re-sent to another address provided
c) every call to ask about claims requires 30-50minute wait
d) once claim sorted and sent in with proper paperwork, told 10 day turnaround. Now ignored now for a month and no correspondence
e) the "claim status" website doesn't even work and you cannot login

HOW ARE THE REVIEWS SO HIGH? Still hoping they can sort things out, but dwindling hope.

My review is a little old, but I remember being pleasantly surprised by the great service, so thought I'd share my experience. In September 2012 I went on a dive holiday to Micronesia and became ill. I found iTrek great in dealing with my claim and ensuring I received the medical help needed. I was reimbursed for prepaid bookings and the cost of changing my flights once I was well enough to fly back. Ever since then I continue to always use iTrek for my travel insurance. Fortunately, I haven't had to make a claim since.

I thought travel insurance is there to protect your belongings otherwise what’s the point. I bought my policy with itrek as I thought they would be good for my trip backpacking around South America. After 19 hours on a bus, the worst thing that could happen, happened. My backpack was stolen from the hold of the bus I was on. So I filled out all the appropriate paperwork (not fun) then to be told that luggage isn’t covered if it’s left unattended in the transport carrier of a bus. What was I meant to do, put it on my lap!

itrek is ok to use. I have used them a couple of times. I did try and claim though and it was rejected because my flight was delayed 24hours and tried to get them to pay that but they wouldn't. So I was kinda pissed but then when I spoke to other insurance places its all the same everywhere. Apparently the airline has to cover your cost. Anyhoo spose I'd use them again just wish I knew that before I claimed.

itrek is a reasonably priced product. Not cheapest but not most expensive either. I'm not loyal to any brand I normally go off price and what I want at the time. They were pretty easy to talk to on the phone compared to other places. I dont like using the internet for everything- its nice to have some sort of personal touch.

Finally a travel insurer that covers for gap years! After looking for ages I eventually found itrek to cover my adventure activities and cover me for my 14 month long trip.
I had a few tricky questions about destinations I was visiting and activities and the staff were really helpful.
If there are any backpackers out there going off the beaten track I would definitely recommend to get a policy from them.

I have had only the best experience with iTrek, I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a reliable and friendly provider with comprehensive and affordable coverage. I I really liked the helpful attitude of the staff, they were very informative.

Just sorted our travel insurance for an epic adventure we're about to go on and itrek were awesome. Lots of other insurance companies wouldnt touch our trip but itrek were great and actually really reasonable. Would definitely recommend them to anyone going off the beaten track! (or the normal one for that matter!).

Pretty good cover, covers activities that I don't think most other insurers do. Have used them three times and pretty cheap. I've never had to claim but a friend I had did have too and they didn't have any dramas. No complaints and will definitely use again.

After struggling to find an insurance provider that was willing to support 'off the beaten track' adventures, I found itrek. They were really responsive, friendly and made the effort to understand our slightly unusual requests. The rate was much better than we could have hoped and the policy was clear. It's made our adventure planning a lot easier knowing we're covered.

I went with itrek for my trip to New Zealand because I had my heart set on bungee jumping and NO other insurer would cover it. It was priced really well and I was happy with everything else that the policy covered. I didn't have to claim, because luckily my rope didn't break!!! haha ! I will definitely use them again.
