This is my third policy witht them. They are easy and quick to arrange a policy online. No problems at all. However, I did not have to make a claim thus far.

I had to cancel my trip due to illness. I contacted the Columbus staff and they were very helpful to advice on the claims procedures. The claim was accepted and paid into my bank account very quickly. Good service.

During my trip to South America and USA, I bought a policy with columbus. My camera, cash and mp3 were stolen in south america and I had a medical bill in USA. They reimbursed me for my stolen items with a $125 excess and they reimbursed the full $400 medical bill while i was in USA. I was glad that I went with columbus and I will go with them again.

My planned trip to US involved flying to Chicago and taking the Amtrak California Zephyr to San Fransisco. We have an annual multitrip policy with Columbus Direct as we had insured with them for years and we had not made any claims prior to this. A couple of days before our travel commences, we received a notice that our train on Amtrak was cancelled due to flash floods. Knowing that we had an annual multitrip policy, I called Columbus to tell them we will be making a claim. They argued that we could still make the trip to US, so cancellation was not covered. I would like to thank Columbus Direct for their policy and exceptional service. My wife and I were robbed while touring in Botswana. The claim process was simple and payment was prompt. However, our photos were lost and cannot be replaced. I highly recommend them if you are considering a travel insurance policy.

During my trip to India, I had severe stomach ache, most probably due to the local food there. When I got back, made a claim and my medical bills were covered. The claim process straight forward and quite fast. I would purchase from them again.

Their policies have extras for sports or snow sports. I purchased a policy for my ski trip to Japan earlier this year, which covered for my ski equipment and piste closure. I was glad I took it out as there was a blizzard on one of the days and I was reimbursed for the day that I was not able to ski.

They are good as long as you never make a claim! They are unresponsive to calls or emails when I was overseas when I was trying to get information on the documentations required to make a claim for my medical bill on my trip. When I got back to Australia, they would not approve my claim because the doctor's report did not contain the correct wording.

They make it impossible to claim. Excuses after excuses. My luggage was lost at the airport, they would not approve my claim, they kept asking for a police report when an airport property irregularity report would have been sufficient.

While taking out a policy by phone, I specifically told them I had pneumonia and was told that I will be covered. During my trip to Europe, I contracted pneumonia again and was hospitalised for 10 days. I was adviced to return to Australia and lost out on my pre-paid tours. The losses amounted to $8,000. I lodged a claim after returning to Australia, only to be told that because my pneumonia was a pre-existing medical condition, it will not be covered. I challenged and took it to independent arbiters but nobody believed me. I will definitely not recommend them to anybody.

Easy to claim. The assessor was friendly and helpful. My luggage containing very expensive medication was delayed. Although, my pre-existing condition was not covered, the assessor accepted that my costs were incurred by the delayed baggage. I travel often and always insure with columbus. I would recommend them to anybody.

I have been with Columbus for 10 years but when my partner was diagnosed with cancer in April. In May, her condition worsened and had to undergo chemotherapy. Our holiday was booked in March, a couple of days after a visit to our GP, who said that the symptoms were nothing to be worried about, but asked us to do a scan just to be sure. When we got the diagnosis 6 weeks later, it was a shock to us. Global Claims said that we should have notified them when about our visit to our GP, and they we did not have a provision to claim because we visited the doctor before we purchased the policy. They said had we told them about the situation, they would have told us that it would not be covered. So w
