10+ years of continuous travel insurance with 1Cover, and I am bitterly disappointed in the outcome of my last claim. Suitcase damaged during travel worth over $200 to replace and only received $4.60 back from 1Cover. What an absolute joke. It would take some serious consideration to ever use you again.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re not happy with the outcome of your claim. I can appreciate why you’re disappointed in the outcome of your claim on this occasion, all luggage claims are subject to an excess and depreciation, the level of this excess can be selected when purchasing a policy.

How on earth can a piece of luggage be depreciated that much over 11 months?? Although my excess was $100, I still only received $4.60 back for an item worth well over $200 and the item required replacing whilst travelling ! Please explain that to me ?

Hi Ingrid,
We use international insurance standards to determine depreciation. Depreciation will apply starting from the time of purchase until the date of loss. Different rates of depreciation will apply depending on the type of item, age of the item, and the asset life of the item as the ATO defines.

Of course, we consider all claims on a case-by-case basis, and our aim is to work towards a solution. Hi Sophie, I have never had any other "item" depreciated on insurance in my life, from 1cover or any other insurance company. When an item has been accidentally damaged, (for example: my suitcase) I have always received back the cost of a comparable product. Minus the excess of course. How many people can I include in my policy?

The more the merrier right? 1Cover insures groups of up to 25. That means more fun for less hassle.

Am I covered if I go on a cruise?

Yes, whether you’re boarding a cruiseliner that travels the open ocean or cruising along the rivers of Europe, 1Cover's Cruise Pack add-on provides you with cover from ship to shore. If you're cruising you must select the add-on and pay the additional premium to be covered.

Am I covered for skiing and my equipment?

Yes if you purchase a ski policy cover. 1Cover will cover $1,500 worth of skiing equipment. Dare devils can even ski off piste (within resort boundaries).

Can I pay to reduce or cancel my excess?

Yes if you pay an additional premium when you purchase your policy to reduce this to $100.

What additional extras are there?

Along with comprehensive cover for your electronics and personal belongings, additional cover can be purchased for specified items up to a total amount of $5,000. There is also a cruise cover add for those going on a cruise and a Winter Sports pack add on for cover whilst skiing and a wide range of snow sports.

Am I covered if my tour company collapses?

1Cover doesn’t provide protection from insolvency.

I'm not an Australian resident- can I buy cover?

No, unfortunately it is only available for Australian residents.

What size moped or motorbike am I covered to ride overseas?

1Cover will cover you for any engine size you ride as long as you’re insured to do so in Australia. Just make sure you get your International Drivers Permit (IDP) before you leave!

How long is their single trip cover for?

12 months.

Can I extend my policy from overseas?

Having too much fun? No problems! You can extend your policy with 1Cover for up to a year. Just give them a call on 1300 806 660.

Do they cover for my rental vehicle excess?

Yes, for up to $5000. Cover includes sedans, hatchbacks, station-wagon, four wheel drives, mini bus or campervan/motorhome that does not exceed 4.5 tonnes.

Who underwrites them?

1Cover travel insurance policies are underwritten by certain underwriters at Lloyd's (insurer). As a Coverholder of Lloyds, 1Cover issues and manages the policies as an authorised representative of Coffre-Fort Pty Limited ABN 66 125 358 518, AFS Licence No. 472457.
